- You need an Impulse Pickaxe mine to access iron ores.
- Best farming spots include North of Dreamfall Garden and near the Azure Bay base.
Iron is one of the most important resource in Starsand Island. Obtaining iron is essential for your progression and plays a huge role in your early to mid-game. In this guide, we will look at the best location to find iron, all the required tools, as well as how to use the iron once mined:
How to Find Iron
The best place to mine iron is not on Starsand Island but on Moonlit Forest. But you must progress through the Explorer and Crafter professions before you try to get iron.
Visually, Iron Ore hides in plain sight; if you are not careful, you may miss it. Iron ore looks similar to Tin ore, but its top has dull grey elements popping out of the rock instead of its brighter colour.

Prerequisites
Before heading out, ensure you have the following tools. If you don’t have them, you will not be able to reach or mine the Iron.
- Impulse Pickaxe: The basic pickaxe can not break certain barriers you need to cross in order to reach and mine the iron ore. You can craft this after buying the recipe from the Zerine General Store, but you must first reach the Apprentice Crafter rank to unlock the blueprint.
- Slingshot: You need this to solve puzzles that block the path to the areas containing iron ore. You need to start the Explorer profession to obtain the slingshot.
(If you need a guide on how to start professions on Starsand Island, refer to this guide.)
Where to Find Iron Ore

You can only find iron ore in Moonlit Forest. Inside Moonlight Forest, you can find the ore in the Dreamfall Garden and the area above it.
The best location to mine the Iron ore is north of the Dreamfall Garden base, just before the stairs that lead to the Crystalith boss fight. The second location, you can also find a high concentration of iron around the Azure Bay base.
They are also marked on the maps below.

Where to get Coal
You also need coal to process your iron ore to make iron ingots. Coal can also be found at the locations where you found the iron ore. Coal ore is black colored rock with a tar-like texture.

How to Process Iron (Making Ingots)
To use the Iron, you must first smelt the iron ore into Iron Ingots, and for that,t you need to use the Furnace II. Furnace II is an upgrade of Furnace I, which you can perform once you have obtained its blueprint. The Furnace II blueprint can be bought for Zerine General Store. You can either craft a new furnace or upgrade your existing one.
Once you have obtained Furnace II, you can smelt your iron ores. They follow the following recipe:
Iron x4 + Coal x1 = Iron Ingot x1

What Iron Is Used For
Iron is an essential ingredient for many mid-game upgrades, some of which include:
- Improved tools
- Structural building parts
- Crafting components like nails and sheets
- Advanced workbench upgrades
Iron marks the transition from early game to mid-game. Try to obtain the Impulse Pickaxe and Furnace II as soon as possible. Prioritize the Crafter and Explorer professions early so you can get iron quickly. Iron is crucial for your equipment upgrades, base expansion, and overall progression.
