How to Get the Poké Flute – Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen

The Poké Flute is a key item in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen that is required to wake up the two sleeping Snorlax blocking your path. This is a mandatory Key Item for story progression. Without it, you cannot progress toward Fuchsia City. Here’s a detailed guide on how to obtain the Poké Flute.

Prerequisite

Obtain the Silph Scope: Before you can get the Poké Flute, you must obtain the Silph Scope.(Here is a guide on how to get the Silph Scope)

Where to Find the Poké Flute

Step 1: Pokémon Tower and Defeating the Ghost

Once you have the Silph Scope. 

• Go to Lavender Town and enter the Pokémon Tower.
• Proceed upward through the floors. Without the Silph Scope, you cannot identify or battle the ghost blocking your path, making further progression impossible.
• On the upper floor of Pokémon Tower, you will encounter a ghost that blocks the staircase. With the Silph Scope, the ghost is revealed to be a Marowak.
• Defeat the Marowak and continue to the top floor of the tower. 

Step 2: Rescuing Mr. Fuji

Enter the top floor of the Pokémon Tower:

• At the top floor, you will find Team Rocket Grunts. 
• Defeat all the grunts and rescue Mr. Fuji. 
• After rescuing Mr. Fuji, you will automatically be teleported to Mr. Fuji’s house in Lavender Town.
• Inside Mr. Fuji’s house, speak to Mr. Fuji. He will reward you with the Poké Flute as a thanks to rescue him. 

How to Use the Poké Flute

Poké Flute is used to wake up sleeping Pokémon. To progress in you game you need to use this flute to wake the Snorlax blocking your path. Two Snorlax block the following routes:

• Route 12 (east of Vermilion City)
• Route 16 (west of Celadon City)

To use the Poké Flute

• Interact with the Snorlax.
• You will be prompted to use the Poké Flute.
• If you say yes, it will wake Snorlax and trigger a battle.
• You can defeating or catching it, the path will be cleared permanently either way.

If you defeat both Snorlax without catching them, they will not respawn and you will loose access to them permanently. So cantch at least one of the if you want to.
