With the release of the 9th mainline entry in the Resident Evil franchise, it is safe to say expectations were not just met but went through the roof. But since the game’s release, fans have had their eyes on a mysterious challenge called “The Final Puzzle” which offers 20,000 Challenge Points(CP).
What is the Final Puzzle?
The final puzzle is one of the most rewarding yet the most mysterious achievements in Requiem. Having no clue regarding the premises of the challenge, it felt like gamers around the world were on a goose chase until the gaming community finally outmaneuvered it. The challenge comprises 2 playthroughs, decoding ciphers, flushing down toilets, scanning a severed hand, and so on.

To achieve this, you need to “Let the sweet pair hear the voice”. In this case, the voice being a creepy laughter of a baby, and the sweet pair being Emily and Marie’s Doll.
Guide to Final Puzzle in Resident Evil 9
Below is a detailed guide on how to solve the final puzzle challenge in Resident Evil 9. The puzzle entails several steps that need to be followed in order.
Step 1: Wait & Drain

After you reach the chained conveyor belt room in the basement of Rhodes Hill Care-centre to attain the 3 Jolt Plugs to save Emily, on reaching the save point by getting across all of the hanging corpses, first and foremost, save your game in a separate location in case you mess up this crucial step.

DO NOT interact with the wheel to drain the blood, set up a timer for at least 15-20 minutes, after that we’re sure at least 115 of the bodies have been disposed of in the pit. Then turn the Blood-draining wheel to drain all the blood from the Processing pool, descend with the help of the ladder.

Now, the most crucial point of this whole step is DO NOT kill any of the zombies, incapacitate them by shooting them in the legs, and let the grinder finish its job until the set piece is done.
After that, you’ll be notified that either “A ton of blood” or “A torrent of blood” flowed out. If not, you’ll get the notification “A lot of blood” flowed out. In that case, reload your save file from earlier and retry.
Step 2: Find the Girl’s Hand

After you’ve managed to escape the basement with Emily, you’ll encounter The Girl in the elevator on your way back to the lobby, from which Grace narrowly escapes. The Girl leaves behind a cut-off hand.
Return to the elevator door, there you’ll find The Girl’s severed hand lying, pick it up, place it in your inventory and progress your way to the next step.
Step 3: Scan The Hand

There are 2 microscopes present in the Care Centre. The first in the Blood Lab in the East Wing and the latter in the Office in the Upper West Wing. Scan the Hand on reaching either of those locations and complete the DNA puzzle to get the hidden message:
| “Let’s play.” | GGC AAG AUA ACG UGU CAU |

Keep this important code noted down: GGC AAG AUA ACG UGU CAU. You will need this later to crack the puzzle and move forward.
Step 4: Flush the toilet

To the most random step of the puzzle. Flush the toilet in the first cubicle in the Restroom (West Wing) exactly 8 times, no more, no less.
Step 5: Pick up Marie’s Doll

When the lab beneath the VIP Suite starts self-destructing, you enter Collection & Testing, and you’ll have to fight your way through Crimson Head zombies. After escaping the first chamber, as you arrive to the other half of the chamber across the stairs, you’ll find Marie’s Doll on the blood-flooded floor, pick it up and place it in the storage box.
If you were successful in dumping at least 115 bodies in the Processing Unit and flushing the toilet 8 times, the doll should appear.
Step 6: Figuring out the code – GGC AAG AUA ACG UGU CAU
Deciphering G

- G: In the Blood lab, you’ll find a sticker on the right side of the microscope that says G = 150000000.
- “G=150000000”. The Sun is 15000000 kms away from the Earth. Hence, G=SUN.
| G | SUN |
Deciphering U

U: When you head to the VIP Suite in the Courtyard, you’ll find an Hourglass. By removing the bolts from its stand, it’ll reveal a secret message “U=380.000” which is the distance from Earth to the moon. Hence, U = MOON
| U | MOON |
Deciphering C

C: Under the VIP Suite in the Courtyard, you’ll enter the Research Lab. Alongside the Helicopter Key, you’ll also find the “Grace Ashcroft Blood Analysis Report”. At the bottom of the file “C=4.2ly” is written, which refers to the closest Star to Earth being 4.2 Light-years away. Hence, C = STAR
| C | STAR |
Deciphering A

A: Much later in the game, during Leon’s RPD segment after defeating Mr.X(Tyrant), if you head to the East of the Battle Arena, you’ll find a basketball court. Here, move Leon in a way so that he kicks the Toy Uncle Bobblehead inside the Basketball Hoop, and you’ll trigger Leon’s voiceline “There’s no time for playing around.” Now head back to Kendo’s Gun shop, where you’ll find the beheaded torso of the Toy Uncle, which on interacting shows the message “Just Ignore A”.
So, the message is to ignore A from the code, which makes the code GGC GUC GUG UCU and translates to:
| GGC GUC GUG UCU | SUN, SUN, STAR, SUN, MOON, STAR, SUN, MOON, SUN, MOON, STAR, MOON |
Step 7: The Subsequent play through
After collecting all the puzzle pieces, if you look at the hint for the Challenge, it says “Let the sweet pair hear the voice”, for which you need to beat the game once. On your 2nd play through you’ll find Marie’s Doll carried over to your storage box.
On your 2nd run, once you get to the point where you leave the basement and pick up the severed Hand and scan it once again to unlock the Puzzle Box.
Step 8: The Final Push

While carrying Emily and Marie’s doll in your inventory, head to the Lead Researchers Office on the 2nd floor of the East wing. Type the full code we assembled previously into the Puzzle Box:
| SUN, SUN, STAR, SUN, MOON, STAR, SUN, MOON, SUN, MOON, STAR, MOON |
If the code was correct, you’re holding Emily and have done all the prior steps correctly, then you’ll hear a creepy child’s laughter, and there you go! The Challenge is complete with 20,000 Challenge Points(CP) as a reward.
