DuneCrawl is a fun open-world adventure game where you travel across a desert on a giant crab. You can play alone or with friends, fight enemies, explore islands, and complete simple quests. The game focuses more on teamwork, exploration, and upgrades rather than a huge story, making it easy to pick up and enjoy. Here’s a short review of Dunecrawl.
What is DuneCrawl

DuneCrawl was launched on 5th January 2026 by Alien Trap. It is an open-world action-adventure game where you will travel on a giant crab in the desert area, either alone or with your friends. It is available on Steam for 16.99 dollars. You can play this game on a PC; right now, it is not available for console players.
In the game, you play as a Crab keeper. You need to help the people to fight the invaders known as Vassals. Your crab is equipped with cannons and shields. You can use the crab to travel through the desert, complete the quests, and upgrade your character.
DuneCrawl Gameplay

In DuneCrawl, you need to complete mainly three core activities. These activities are Crab Combat, on-foot exploration, and progression.
Crab Combat DuneCrawl
You can use your Crab crawler to move through the desert area and fight off the enemies. If you are playing with your friends, each one plays a different role in the Crab Crawler. One player has to move the crab, the other players need to load the cannons, fire the cannons and repair the crab.
If you are playing solo, you will get a ghost companion to help you in your journey. However, it can be difficult to use the ghost companion, as you will need to inform him of the tasks that he needs to do first. So, it is better to play with your friends.
During the combat, you need to fight the enemies, Crab crawlers, Island defenses, and Boss creatures. You can use Cannons to defeat them. Cannons use physics-based projectiles to shoot the cannonballs.
You can also use the shield to protect yourself. Since it has friendly fire, you have to use the cannons carefully, or you can damage your own crab.
On-Foot Exploration and Combat
When you are inside an island, you will need to explore the dungeons, fight enemies, and complete quests on foot. You can use weapons like swords, guns, and axes to fight.
You can also ride other bugs to travel inside the island. You can use beetles to carry multiple players, Scorpions to break the obstacles, and nymphs for quick movement.
Progressing and Customisation
You can use masks, tunics, and talismans – these give you abilities like move damage, health regeneration or explosive dodges. You can also upgrade your Crab crawler with armour and new weapons. You can add cosmetics to your crab as well.
Why You Should Play DuneCrawl

The game is completely designed for multiplayer mode. Playing it with friends makes it a fun and interesting game. The open world is not very big, but it has secrets, dungeons, and different areas that you can explore.
The quests are not lengthy, and you can easily play them anytime. The environment has bright colours, strange creatures, and interesting things that you can also explore. You can play this game however you want, and you don’t need a lot of time to complete it.
Issues in DuneCrawl
On-Foot combat can feel buggy, so it needs to be fixed by the developers. You will not find a huge arsenal of weapons in the game. While you get one NPC helper for maintaining the crab, it can feel a little bit slow. You can hire mercenaries to help you, but they will cost money. Also, the mercenaries can die. Remember, you can hire only one mercenary per city.
The first part of the game can be tough as the controls are difficult on keyboard and mouse. Most of the quests follow a simple structure, and after some time, it can feel repetitive. The game also has a lot of bugs which need to be fixed.
If you have two to four friends and you like exploration and upgrading, then you can try playing DuneCrawl. If you are a solo player and you want a huge open-world game, then this one is not for you.
