The Diamond Rod is the best and most challenging fishing rod to unlock in Fish It. Getting it isn’t quick or easy; you will need to explore hidden locations, catch rare secret fish, hunt down powerful creatures, and master perfect throws. This guide breaks everything down step by step, showing you how to complete each requirement so you can unlock the Diamond Rod.
How to Obtain the Diamond Rod
The Diamond Rod is an endgame item, and the whole quest takes place underground on Fisherman Island. First, head to the mutation seller area. You will see a diamond poster there, which tells you you’re in the right place. Talk to the Diamond Researcher. He’s the NPC who gives you the Diamond Rod quest. Even though you might not be able to complete it right away, this is where the journey starts.
To unlock the Diamond Rod, you need to complete several requirements. You must own the Elemental Rods, catch a secret fish at Coral Reefs, catch another secret fish at Tropical Grove, bring a mutated gemstone ruby, and catch the Loch Ness Monster. On top of all that, you also need 1,000 perfect throws, which makes this quest even tougher.
How to get the required fish

The first place you need to visit is the Coral Reefs. Travel there from Fisherman Island and start fishing. You can fish anywhere in this area, so just pull out your rod and keep fishing. It’s a good idea to use luck potions, especially during admin abuse events, since those events increase your chances of getting secret fish.
Remember, there are only two secret fish in Coral Reefs. The good part is that they can appear in any weather, so you don’t need to wait for specific conditions. Still, it may take some time, so be patient. The second location is Tropical Grove. This island is located behind and slightly to the left of where you spawn on Fisherman Island, right next to Coral Reefs.
At Tropical Grove, fish again and try to catch the secret fish. According to the index, there’s only one secret fish here, so it might take a while. While fishing, you can also find rubies, which are important because you need a mutated gemstone ruby for the Diamond Rod quest.
To get a mutated ruby, you will either need mutation potions or some luck. Compared to secret fish, getting a mutated ruby is usually easier. Rubies can also be found in other places, like the ocean or the treasure room in Lost Isle. The treasure room is also where you get the Ghost Fin Rod. Still, Tropical Grove is the best option since you can work on both the ruby and the secret fish at the same time.
Catching the Loch Ness Monster
Next, you need to catch the Loch Ness Monster. This fish is listed in the Kana index and can only be caught at Kana Island. Kana is the island with the volcano and is one of the early islands you visit during quests.
Once you catch the Loch Ness Monster, take it along with the mutated gemstone ruby to an NPC named Larry. There’s also another NPC called Narwhal nearby who offers a new quest, but Larry is the one you need for the Diamond Rod exchange.
Perfect throws requirement
Finally, there’s the 1,000 perfect throws requirement. To get a perfect throw, charge your cast and release it right at the top. Auto fishing does not count for this. If you’re on PC, auto clickers can help, but otherwise, you will need to do all 1,000 throws manually. Once you complete all these steps, you will finally unlock the Diamond Rod, the best fishing rod in the game.
