The modern Prometheus quest is a side quest in the Quarantine Zone: The Last Check. This walkthrough will provide details on how to initiate this quest, including all zombie body parts collected from survivors, surviving the zombie outbreak, and avoiding any mistakes you might make along the way.
How to Start the Modern Prometheus Quest
A new quest will open up for you on Day 20 of your survival.
During your daily screening, you will encounter an NPC called Stuart while processing survivors. If you search Stuart’s bag, you’ll find a severed zombie head.

WARNING:
Do not liquidate Stuart; if you kill him, you will not be able to start the Modern Prometheus Quest.
Once Stuart is admitted to the camp, he will ask you to get four parts from zombies.
Where to Find the Zombie Body Parts
- Survivor’s luggage randomly spawns zombie body parts.
- You can’t find zombie parts in Liquidation, Lab, or in a scripted event.
- Each survivor will need to be inspected manually for parts.
- Each confiscated part costs roughly $100.
Since spawns are random, it may take several in-game days to collect all four parts.

The Experiment and the Outbreak
After successfully procuring the parts, hand them over to Stuart. After receiving all four parts, he will begin his experiment on them that night. However, this experiment will fail (Pre-determined outcome).
When this experiment inevitably fails, an outbreak will occur at your base (This outbreak is scripted and can not be prevented). And you have to defend against the impending outbreak, regardless of how well you managed your checkpoints so far.
To defend against the impending outbreak, you must make your preparations; you have until the end of the day (from when you game Stuart the zombie parts). You must have sufficient supplies of ammo and medkits. As the battle could escalate quickly. Make sure all your bases’ defenses are working, and ensure that your generator is running and able to deliver enough power to adequately run your defenses and lights during the attack. If you are not prepared, you risk losing too many survivors and setting your progress back.
Quest Rewards
When we return to Stuart after containing the outbreak successfully. Stuart is dead. This marks the completion of his role in this game and the quest.
The rewards players obtain from this quest are a collectible severed head (of Stuart) as well as a small cash amount of $500. There is no major reward from this quest.
Managing Money During the Quest
You can easily soft-lock yourself in this quest if your funds drop too low.
To prevent this from happening, keeping at least $500 is highly recommended before you fully commit to this quest, as confounding zombie parts require costs of around $100.
Also, ensure you don’t make any unnecessary confiscations or penalties that can reduce your income.
It’s important to maintain all essential systems, like the generator. Failing to do so can quickly deplete your resources. Running out of money at this point means that you will be unable to continue your operations or respond to scripted events, thus halting your progress and forcing you to restart or reload your save file.
