The Trials of Resolve Quest for Joining The Free Hunters – Of Ash and Steel

The Trials of Resolve quest will give you a series of tasks from different individuals. Completing the tasks will let you join the Free Hunters. You need to collect 5 wolf hides as an initiation fee and 3 feathers from the Falcons to complete the Trial of Tree. The Trials of Resolve quest

If you want to join the Free Hunters, complete the Trials of Resolve quest. This trial will test your skills and patience. The Trials of Resolve quest starts after you find Kurt in the Free Hunters headquarters. Since the quest is very long, you need to travel to different places and collect the items.

Initiation Fee

To start the Free Hunters quest, give 5 wolf hides as initiation fees. Hunt the wolves in the forest or loot the hides around the village. Also, hides can be bought from a merchant in the main village for 50 gold.

How to Join the Free Hunters

Once you have collected all the hides, return to Tristen and pay the initiation fee. He will then ask you to meet 3 Falcons. Each Falcon will give you a trial, and after completing it, you will receive a feather. You need 3 feathers to join the Free Hunters.

Frost Petalophore (Amalticus)

Amalticus will ask you to bring a Frost Petalophore. The flower is found under water, in a lake, just near a ruined mill. Dive near the wooden pier and search the lake bottom. Once you get it, return to Amalticus and receive your first feather.

A Piece of the Flag (Morgus)

Morgus will ask you to cut a piece from a flag at the top of a broken tower. To reach the tower, follow the river and cross the bridge. You will see a tall red tower in the distance. 

When you reach the tower, climb up. Start jumping from one wooden beam to another. Once you reach the top of the tower, cut a piece of the flag and return it to Morgus. Morgus will give you the second feather.

Animal Trophy (Kamal)

Kamal will give you four envelopes, each with a riddle in it. You need to pick one, hunt the animal, and bring back its trophy to him. Kamal, the blacksmith, will be working in his shop, outside the camp.

Black Envelope

From the Black Envelope you will get to know that you need to find a cave bug. It is a large black insect hiding inside the cave. The cave is near a river, past a bandit camp. Kill the bug inside the cave and take the trophy.

White Envelope

From the White Envelope, you will get to know that you will need to find the tailless wolf. The wolf is near the lake where you found the frost flower. Reach the cave which is near the trees. The cave has a skeleton inside it. The wolf will be roaming near this cave. Kill the wolf and collect the trophy.

Green Envelope

The Green Envelope will inform you to find an ash turtle. The turtle is covered in ash and can be found near a burned-down tower. You can easily find it roaming around the area. Use your bow and keep a distance to kill it and get the trophy. 

Red Envelope

The Red Envelope will ask you to find a dangerous, green, glowing mosquito. You can find it near a Chapel with an altar. Cross the river to a small island filled with mosquitos. It is a very dangerous animal so be careful while killing it. After killing it, collect the trophy.

Trial of the Tree

When you have collected all the three features, return to Tristen and he will tell you that this is the point of no return. Completing this trial means that you have officially joined the Free Hunters. Take the left path near the settlement and follow the road into a hidden area. You will find a mysterious tree. Interact with it to complete the quest and join the Free Hunter.
